Real time public transport tracking for small cities
Project Overview
Name of Project: Real time public transport tracking for small cities .
Abstract :
Real-Time Public Transport Tracking for Small Cities is a smart transportation management system designed to improve public bus services by providing real-time tracking, passenger monitoring, route management, and crowd analysis. The system uses GPS and Arduino-based hardware installed in buses to track their location and monitor passenger movement. Ultrasonic sensors are placed near the entry and exit doors to automatically increase or decrease the passenger count. An LED and button are also included in the hardware setup for door-status control.
The system consists of a web application with three major user roles: Admin, Bus Depot, and User. The Admin can manage bus depots and access system data, while the Bus Depot can manage routes, buses, assign buses to routes, analyze crowd levels, and perform automatic rescheduling based on crowd conditions. Users can register, log in, view bus routes, and access crowd analysis information. The proposed system helps small cities manage public transportation more efficiently and provides passengers with better information about available bus services.
Key Features
1. Real-Time GPS Tracking
GPS integrated with the Arduino hardware tracks the current location of buses and supports real-time transport monitoring.
2. Automatic Passenger Counting
Ultrasonic sensors installed at the entry and exit doors detect passenger movement. The entry sensor increases the passenger count, while the exit sensor decreases it.
3. Crowd Analysis
The system analyzes the number of passengers in buses to identify crowd levels and provide useful information for transport management.
4. Automatic Bus Rescheduling
The Bus Depot module can perform automatic bus rescheduling based on crowd conditions, helping manage bus availability according to passenger demand.
5. Bus & Route Management
The Bus Depot can:
Add and view routes
Delete routes
Add and manage buses
Assign buses to routes
View all bus information
6. Admin Management
The Admin can log in, add/view/delete bus depots, and access overall system data.
7. User Module
Passengers can register, log in, view bus routes, and view crowd analysis through the web application.
8. Door Status Control
The hardware includes an LED and button-based door control mechanism, allowing the door status to be monitored or controlled.
9. Centralized Web Application
The system uses HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Java, and MySQL, providing a centralized platform for transport administration and user access.
10. Small-City Focus
The project is specifically designed around the requirements of small-city public transportation, combining bus tracking, passenger counting, route management, and crowd-based planning in one system.
